Let us make a walk to remember

When I was young, I remember my granny who was diagnosed to have an Alzheimer’s disease. At first, I didn’t understand what it was but I knew then that something was wrong. She was my favorite granny and it took me a while to grasp the concept of what was happening to her and no one can even explain in great detail what the brain disorder does to a person. Of course now we are educated and well-informed that Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and fatal, the most common form of dementia and, has no current cure.
It is a good thing that there are some organizations that aim to raise the awareness of people and also help fight against Alzheimer. Now, the Alzheimer's Memory Walk association is creating the nation's largest event which aims to raise awareness and funds that will be used for Alzheimer care, support and research.
The event also calls on volunteers of all ages to become advocates of the fight against Alzheimer's. So what is a typical Alzheimer's Memory Walk? It is a 2-3 mile walk that will be carried out on a weekend morning in the fall in more than 600 communities. Want to help out? Then stand and let us walk with a purpose….let us make a walk to remember.
