Just like a star

Tonight we weren't able to watch the amazing fireworks like we used to do. It was eight years ago when we made up our vows, made up our hands one hand, made up our lives one life. One hand, one heart.

After the rites was like an advance new year welcoming the newbies with a bang. Yes a ememorable Rizal Day bombing. In those eight years so many things have taken place. Now, I am a proud mother of three. I love them so much that I will never ever even thought about disowning them.

There's a song that keeps humming inside my head...I just can't get it off my head.

Goodbye for now

She goes on with a heavy heart. She thought...how can he not fight for her? They're both chasing a dream they'd never catch. So she lean on and gaze at the waves that splashes from she knows where it bumps. It was like there was a rewind of the times that they've been together...hopes that they've whispered to one another....lies he'd been telling...And it's as if she was awakened by the hum of the air. She then slowly loosened her grip of the thing she has been holding best...ans uttered..."Goodbye for now".

Great holiday gift ideas

Since I just gave birth last October of this year, we have had so little time for our Christmas shopping. December is this busiest time of the year so I should find time preparing our list and thinking of what and where to buy gifts that we will give to each and everyone. It sure gave me a headache since I already have three kids. Aside from managing my time at home, I have to prioritize things at the office. Tons of paperworks are awaiting at my table.

So my dilemma now is to find a unique gift. So I thought of why not give them something that they can use...something personal. Pexagon just gave me an idea. They are offering 20% off on 4 awesome and cool personalized holiday gifts items which you can choose from.

They have a Personalized Thumb Drives which is available in 14 colors. Isn't that cool! These thumb drives hold up to 16GB in capacity with FREE custom laser engraving. You can choose from 32 exciting themes and engrave two lines of personalization text on the reverse side! The price starts at $7.99 after discount.

They also have personalized Pens with 3 unique styles. It also comes in multiple colors. You can also have a free line of personalized laser engraved text! You can get it at $1.59 after discount.

For some techie people you can choose to give them Business Card Flash Drives. It is a perfect gift for the business person or administrator. It looks like a business card but the back side hides a small USB cable with a huge 2GB capacity. Wow! The front side can also be engraved for free with 3 lines of personalization text at only $15.99 after discount.

The last item is the Wooden USB Flash Drive. It is environmental-friendly with it's wooden design. It is attached with cap and two color choices. You have the option of buying a 2GB or a 4GB capacity with 2-sided custom laser engraving which is for free! Grab it for only $15.99 after discount.

I think these items are already worth giving for this Christmas. Quality, fashinable, practical and personalized holiday gifts items at affordable prices.

One day I'll fly away

Lights are out. I sat in a corner trying to look...trying to watch everything around me. I can hear what they're all saying but my mind drifts far away. Trying to be present to the place I am in...trying to sound normal. I hope they can't hear my mind screaming out loud. We can't have something just because we want it. We can only aspire for it. I know that I can't have wings to fly away so the only way to get too close to what I want is to be close to a bird...to watch them from a distance. Whenever this comes to mind, I am screaming out from inside and the only thought that it shrieks..."One day...someday I'll have my wings and One day I'll fly away". I'll fly away far away to the city where I first found serenity where I found the highest peak and just stand still and gaze down at the street. There is no turning back and when I do I'll be able to hit the road again.

Ceiva for a gift

Christmas brings in a lot of good memories. It gives people reasons to celebrate, share, give love and just be in a festive mood. Christmas eve would not be complete without gift giving which is almost a tradition practiced by most of us. We wait for the clock to strike 12 and together we shout Merry Christmas. We are all excited to unwrap the gifts under the christmas tree. The joy it brings is undeniably remarkable. These are the moments when you would love to capture and seal in a bottle to forever treasure.

When asked what I want for Christmas I can't think of anything. Then I saw Ceiva! I am a very sentimental person and as much as possible I would like to hold on to sweet memories...something to look at or reminisce by when the weather gets a little bit cold.

Ceiva Digital Photo Frame Got a Wish Sweeepstakes might just make my wish come true. It was fun and easy to join. What caught my attention is the uniqueness of Ceivashare which can reconnect you with your happiest and cherished times of your life just by simply uploading those pictures via e-mail or camera phone. More so, there are options wherein you can invite and share with your friends the pictures that you have uploaded. Interestingly, they can send those pictures directly to your frame. I hope by sitting on Santa's lap he hears the wish that I secretly whispered to his ears.

Changeling

I thought at first it was wrong spelling but when I googled the word I found that it's for real. Changeling means a child secretly exchanged for another. This 2008 movie is based on a true story. Directed by Clint Eastwood and starred by Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich. A story based on the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders.

The story however focused on Christine Collins who dared what no one else had the guts to do. It depicted and detailed the fight that Collins went through against the LAPD in search of her lost son - Walter. The police thought they found the boy and had solved the case. Incidentally, the boy that they found in Illinois told the police that he was Walter Collins. Christine told the police that it was a mistake but the police didn't listen to her. To make it worst, they threw her in a psychiatric ward to cover up for their mistakes. With Collins determination and some help from concerned citizens, she brought to an end to the Coop Murders by fighting it in court together with the conviction of Gordon Northcott (the suspect). She won the case but still she wasn't able to locate her son.

CHangeling is one of the best drama movie that I've seen this year. When Angelina Jolie spoke to Gordon in the prison and asked him if he killed her son, I felt the agony, grief and hopelessness during that scene. As a mother, I've sympathized with what she went through just to look for her son. Every cast in that film gave justice to the story behind the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders.

Upon watching said movie, I did some research and interestingly found out some trivia. One of them is why Gordon Northcott
murdered those boys. At the back of my mind, I was sure that Gordon had some psychological problems because no sane person would even think about doing those things to those poor boys. I read that Gordon was not onlya product of incestuous action but that he was molested and abused as a child by the entire family.

Another interesting fact was the reason why the boy that the police found in Illinois pretended to be Walter. His name was Arthur Hutchkins and recounted the story when he was asked by the police if he noticed or knew Walter Collins. At first he said he didn't know Walter but when he heard the police mentioning California, he changed his story because he wanted to go to California to escape from his stepmother, Violet. (Left : Walter Collins; Right : Arthur Hutchkins)

My Energizer

Energizer's history goes all the way back to 1886. In 1896, Energizer marketed the very first battery for consumer use -- The Columbia -- all of six inches tall and used to power home telephones. With global headquarters in St. Louis and over 10,000 Associates in 140 countries, Energizer stands as the world's largest manufacturer of batteries and flashlights.

My own energizer used to be a double "AA". It was true when it says it "keeps you going and going". Remember the energizer bunny commercial that keeps on running around while it continuously bangs a drum. For a time I believed I've been that bunny. I could do anything and everything with my energizer. I even threw in a free-throw-last-minute-of-the-game. Hell, I can still vividly recall that moment. It was a sweet winning shot for me and for my team. At that very instance when all eyes were on me, I saw only him and only him. For a second, I closed my eyes and savored that moment and I just then realized that my hand was throwing the ball to the ring right down the net! But I guess my double "AA" was not that effective at all. My energizer battery slowly faded and just stopped bringing life in my world. I'd never thought I'd get used to having another one but I did. However, the energizer battery that keeps me going and going is a rare one. It did not only keep me going and going but it gave me more than life itself could bring. Somehow I lost my energizer...the one that kept me going. When something like that happens, a clock inside you just ticks a lot louder. I wonder how and what it would take for me to realize that I don't need energizers to make my earth revolve back in time because in real life, real things ...real batteries only comes with double "AA" and not with double "RR". But then again without the distortion of reality, then there would be no Sistine Chapel, Taj Mahal or the likes...

Can't let it stand

Our perception is always colored by our hopes, our fears, our loved ones. I am afraid my best is not good enough. You cannot believe in something and one second you use it against that person. It is just not right. Is all hope gone? There's not a day that passes by that a voice inside my head screams out "It's important to make things right". I just don't know how...i just don't know how.

Let the water not run dry

She looks at the water that flows to God knows where it ends. She keeps on dropping and pushing it away. Then the moment it slips away from her, crazy things come swooshing around inside her head. She keeps on wondering why she did it and what she could do to capture back the thing she thought she lost. One day she wakes up and find herself praying "let the water not run dry for I can never get him back again".

All the things you are

I've never been so distraught in my life. Everything doesn't make sense. It's like my heart stopped beating and the world crashes on my feet. I know that at some point we have to make a decision. I made mine and for a moment a part of me says it is the right thing to do...the right words to say. I couldn't bear the pain and the hurt that I am going through especially when I realized that I couldn't have the real thing. I can't make demands and I can't expect because I knew it from the very start. The road has been tough and yet I felt happy when I join the ride.

It hurts me more when I know that in this kind of fairy tale there are no happily ever after endings. Time is not on our side. The odds are all against us. I just sometimes wonder if he really cared for me...really loved me. I guess this is my new beginning. I'm going to have look straight for that new road and should never look back. If he only knew.....all the things you are.

Without strings

We came here on earth alone, we're going to die alone. That is why we spend our lives here on earth so infuriatingly dependent on others. There are people who really care about you and there are people who only care about themselves. How do you know which one is which?

My least favorite phrase in the human language is "I am sorry". 9 out of 10 I'm-sorrys are only being uttered because people got caught. And when someone says to me "I'm sorry" especially if it belongs to the 9 out of 10 category and I reply "up yours", I am being a total bitch. However when I forgive and let him go away with it, I'm being a total shmuck! So what do I do? It is just awful but as they say no man is an island. People tend to think that forgiveness is the flipside of contrition. An obligatory response to an apology...it is not. To forgive is to answer the calls of our better angels and bear our wounds as the cost of doing business. It is that rarest things - simple and pure - transcendant without strings.

The most difficult choices to make are the ones that denies us what are heart wants most. As it has been said, without reason....without logic...the heart wants what the heart wants. And more often than not, it will not be denied. Oftentimes when the heart makes a choice..it comes without strings.

Bedazzled

Sometimes trying too hard to make things perfect can blow up on your face. There's a reason why people say we shouldn't expect too much. No one wants to see someone they care about end up disappointed. We instinctively act to protect our own from being hurt and do what we can to make the right choices for the people we love. But the reason we have expectation in the first place is because we want to aim high as we can. When you love someone there is no limit to what we can accomplish. Given a limited time, you make the best out of every minute...every second. You try to make happy moments, something you can remember by when things go wrong. And sometimes those happy moments you resent because no matter how hard you try to make everything perfect you are bedazzled by their intentions...what's going on inside their mind...what you really mean to them.

Everybody plays the fool

Everyday we face questions of right and wrong and decisions about whether to take actions or stay out of the game. And it's when those choices are at least clear that we draw upon our conscience, follow our instincts, and reveal our true character. At some point in our lives we feel like we are being tested in a way. Even though we know the right answers to our questions, we still choose to play the fool.

Life is a journey and the road we travel has its twists and turns which sometimes leads us to unexpected places....unexpected people. Sometimes we just walk past by them. Others tag them along for a joyride and drops you in a cliff. And others take the side road, holds your hand and walks with you side by side no matter how rough, dusty or bumpy the road is. So which one is you? How much more can you take when you know your fate? No one knows where you will end up. Waiting is the hardest part ever but still I play the fool...everybody plays the fool.

When a man loves a woman

Through the good times. Through the bad times. When a Man Loves a Woman it's for all times. A 1994 hit movie that starred Andy Garcia and Meg Ryan. It has a soundtrack which was revived by Michael Bolton with the same title as the movie. A man who loved his wife through it all. They faced a difficult time of their marriage when Alice Green (Meg) who was an alcoholic and had hit bottom when she had compromised the safety of her own child when she was under the influence of alcohol. She then realized that she needed to go to rehab to save herself and her marriage. Still after what she had been through, Michael Green (Andy) embraced him wholeheartedly. When a man loves a woman is a typical drama love story which depicts a simple and yet profound love of a man for a woman despite all her imperfections. A man who has truly lived by his vows of "for better or for worse". A fictional movie which many of us would think only happens in the big screen.

Obama wins the seat at the White House

The first African-American Democrat has etched in history as Barack Obama won the seat at the White House and turned Wednesday from victory's jubilation to the sobering challenge of leading a nation in crisis.

What makes his victory so resounding, and so daunting for Republicans, was that he combined support from African-Americans, Jews, and young whites with other key groups. He also reversed President Bush’s advances with Hispanic voters. Why is this so? Obama won strategically and symbolically but most of all his platforms has made his way as the 44th President of the United States.

Here are the major issues and his platforms as well that hopefully will be implemented to return the favor for the people who believed in him and his plans.

ECONOMY - provide a tax cut for working families; provide tax relief for small businesses and startups; Fight for fair trade.

EDUCATION - will reform No Child Left Behind; Invest in early childhood education; Make college affordable to all Americans.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT - provide short-term relief to American families facing pain at the pump; Help create five million new jobs by strategically investing $150 billion over the next ten years to catalyze private efforts to build a clean energy future; Within 10 years save more oil than we currently import from the Middle East and Venezuela combined; Put 1 million Plug-In Hybrid cars -- cars that can get up to 150 miles per gallon -- on the road by 2015, cars that we will work to make sure are built here in America; Ensure 10 percent of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025; Implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.

ETHICS - will centralize ethics and lobbying information for voters; Require independent monitoring of lobbying laws and ethics rules; Close the revolving door on former and future employers.

FOREIGN POLICY - Secure loose nuclear materials from terrorists; Will pursue tough, direct diplomacy without preconditions to end the threat from Iran; Renew American diplomacy.

HEALTHCARE - will make health insurance affordable and accessible to all; Will lower health care costs; Promote public health.

HOMELAND SECURITY - Will defeat terrorism worldwide; Prevent nuclear terrorism; Strengthen American biosecurity.

WAR IN IRAQ - Will responsibly end the war in Iraq; Encourage political accommodation; Increase stability in Iraq and the region.

SENIORS & SOCIAL SECURITY - Will protect Social Security; Provide cheaper prescription drugs; Protect and strengthen Medicare.

TAXES - Cut taxes for 95 percent of workers and their families with a tax cut of $500 for workers or $1,000 for working couples; Provide generous tax cuts for low- and middle-income seniors, homeowners, the uninsured, and families sending a child to college or looking to save and accumulate wealth; Eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses, cut corporate taxes for firms that invest and create jobs in the United States, and provide tax credits to reduce the cost of healthcare and to reward investments in innovation; Dramatically simplify taxes by consolidating existing tax credits, eliminating the need for millions of senior citizens to file tax forms, and enabling as many as 40 million middle-class Americans to do their own taxes in less than five minutes without an accountant.

VETERANS - Will restore our sacred trust with our nation's veterans; Help returning service members; Improve mental health treatment.

WOMEN - Fix the nation's health care system; Empower women to prevent HIV/AIDS; Support research into women's health; Will help fight cancer; Reduce health risks due to mercury pollution; Support stem cell research; Supports a Woman's Right to Choose;

The real thing

They say patience is a virtue and I think I am running out of it. What ifs come with endless possibilities. I want the real thing. I've come to terms with what I want...I want the real thing or nothing at all. I need that real thing that I can be sure will catch me if I should fall. That real thing who'll be there when I call. That real thing to hold me each night. That real thing who will make it alright. I want to know for sure that I can feel secure. Once I get that under control then I won't let go. Then I'll know that it's the real thing. I don't want to be second best anymore. No more lies. I am through pretending...I am pretty tired of hiding. Anyway, I have seen and feel the best of what seems to be the real thing.

Real Thing - Kalapana

Nothing beats the old times

There were four of us - Joan aka Friend, Tricia aka Petra, Mabel aka Baby Bel. After lunch, we would sit down at the lounge and have that girl talk. It was always almost about boys...the boys in our lives. The secret crushes, the boyfriends, the cuties and the hotties. We would kinda sort out the boys that goes in and out of the elevator and spot the "B.Y". Giggles, tears, the oohs and aahs, woah and oh as we talk about batman, architect of Friend, Monster of Baby Bel and of course Petra's BF.

It's been years already since we have had those moments in that couch...in that lounge. We have separated ways to seek greener pasteurs. Friend in Dubai, Petra with Uncle Sam , Baby Bel and me stuck here. Baby Bel was the first one to leave. She pursued her commercial modeling and DJ thing. Friend followed who at first was a ground stewardess then flew farther to Dubai. Petra was the last of them. She became an events coordinator which she is good at.

Yes mankind have invented so many ways of keeping in touch but I guess nothing ever beats the old times.

You left me cold

Suddenly the clouds turned blue. The ground is dampen with teardrops that fall from the sky. The air whispers through the silence of the night. I embraced my pillow while I try to solve the puzzle in my mind. A challenge that have seemed to left me with sleepless nights. A confusion that have paralyzed my working brain. I tried to steal his mind to work inside out but I guess I'll never find the right answer. How was I suppose to make it work like before? Things can get a lot different with words. The words we use make a big difference : Carefully chosen, they can keep someone happy. Sloppily chosen, they can infuriate. I got so caught up in a web of lies that I didn't bother to look deeply. For the two gleaming and noteworthy moments in my life, I hang on to life. While lying and bringing life to this world, the lines in the machine that was hooked to me almost went haywire. With the first they have to supply me oxygen to stabilize me and the second one they have to make me feel more pain to stop my heart rate from moving faster. I have almost seen the light at the end of the tunnel...almost.

It has caused me to zip my mouth and keep everything to myself because I didn't want to upbraid. The least you could do was to be honest. For what the waves could have never washed away...you have left me cold.

Yummy like Umami

Sometime in 1908 a certain professor named Ikukanae Ikeda from TOkyo Imperial University in Japan discovered that there is more to sweet, sour, bitter and salty. Yes, something that is not taught in our school - the 5th basic taste which is coined as Umami. Umami is the taste found in glutamate which can be found in cheese, tomato and meat. That is why spaghetti dishes which contains parmesan, tomatoes and meat is an irresistble dish.

The discovery of glutamate was initially found from the seaweed used in Japanese soup stock. It is funny though that we were taught not to put or use Mono Sodium Glutamate or MSG in our dishes as they claim to have certain risks in our health. In fact, glutamate lessens sodium intake because it only contains 1/3 sodium content of table salt.

Today, they are celebrating 100 years of the 5th basic taste which is Umami.

The best things...

My friend and I were talking about almost anything and everything under the sun...One of my confidants whom I assume is reading this one right now. We can chat for hours and talk about nonsense things to being dead serious. I've always treasured those moments because it is something that can never be replaced by something. I wish I have with me a tape recorder where I can record everything that we have talked about. Then when the day comes and we hit our separate roads and never cross our paths again, then I can play back and hear the voice and laughter that we've spent with each other.

I guess I am mostly the inquisitive one between the two of us. Just recently, I've asked the question "What to you is the best thing that happened in your life?" I guess in an effort to respond to my impromptu question, I got an answer : CAPE...Though I know it would be the answer, it sounded good 2 my ears. The question came back to me and I instataneously replied "My Charmed ones".

If again I would be asked the same question, know that the one who constantly reads my posts is one of the best thing that ever happened to me.

iLasik for the window of your soul

Just recently we had our Annual Physical Examination (APE) as part of our Environment Safe and Health Program in our workplace. Our health card is provided for by our Company so we don’t have to pay a single centavo when we have consultations or undergo an APE. Another good thing about our medical benefit is that it also covers our dependents including our parents.

Every year we take advantage of the APE to more or less gauge how physically fit we are. Part of the APE is to undertake a Visual Acuity (VA) test. A test conducted to see how our vision is doing. So far I have had a 20/20 vision for the past few years that I have been taking it. The results of the VA test are different however for my parents. With their age, their vision gets a little impaired which means that they would have to wear reading glasses or correction glasses. It would have been better if they would go through a laser procedure to correct those vision problems. Now I know that there are many laser procedures in the country that will give the best of care for my parent’s eyes and yet affordable. Then I found out about the LASIK technology and iLasik procedure.

This famous LASIK technology has been used by doctors for about a decade already. To date around 32 millions have already been performed using LASIK technology which includes the personnel of the Department of Defense and NASA. This alone is a fact that will prove that the technology and procedure is safe.

Most people are candidates and you just have to go to an iLasik surgeon for a consultation. There is no need to fear. As mentioned above, the iLASIK procedure only takes minutes. The refractive imperfections in your eye which is essentially the reason for your nearsightedness, farsightedness, and the likes will be corrected by reshaping your cornea. The wonder of this procedure is that it is affordable.

To sleep or not to sleep?

Having a baby changes everything. I know that already that is why I think I got insomniac. I am not blaming it on motherhood but I guess it is one side effect to me. I thought it would be better not to sleep at all to get through the mad hours of my baby's sleeping pattern. It is not that it became a hobby of mine not to sleep but it would be more of an advantage to me if I stay awake through those untimely hours. While the people at our house are probably heading off to wonderland, here I am writing a blog.

Anyway, it's ironic that I have to write this down because I am charged guilty of practicing a bad habit. It's not that I have no choice but I'd probably lessen the pressure on us. I guess I would just like to share why people should not be like me. I read an article that says top ten things of why you should sleep:

- According to a 2006 Institute of Medicine report, people who get fewer sleeping hours may lead to obesity. By having fewer zzzz’s the “Leptin”, which suppresses appetite, is lowered; “Ghrelin”, which stimulates appetite, gets a boost.

- Another study which was published in the Archives of Internal Medicine in 2005 found out that fewer hours of sleep each night were 2.5 times more likely to be diabetic, while those with six hours or fewer were 1.7 times more likely.
In 2003 study found that women who slept for fewer hours per night are more likely to have heart attacks.

- Blood pressure may increase which is contrary to many beliefs that blood pressure drops.

- Depression. Research reveals that it is one side effect of getting not enough sleep.

With all of this, I rest my case.

Spiderman will hit the big screen again

The successful superhero Spiderman will cast his web and will save lives again soon. After such a long break, Tobey Maguire has finally put an end to months of gossip and has signed a contract for a fourth and fifth installment of "Spider-Man.".
Though Raimi admittedly said that there is no script yet production would start probably by March 2010. It may be too long for the sequel’s hit on the big screen but they would have to start first with a pen and a paper. There are a lot of issues that they would have to iron and a lot of pre-production that needs to be done.
For one thing, rumors have it that Kirsten Dunst’s (who played Mary Jane Watson for the past series) signing into the sequel has not yet been confirmed. She has been a big part of the movie and there is no telling if people would accept it if they are going to change the original Mary Jane Watson.
Another issue that they will be discussing is if the sequels will be shot back-to-back. Yes there is still no script for Spiderman 4 and 5 but Raimi already had it that the two movies would be connected. They have signed on “Zodiac” scriptwriter James Vanderbilt to write the script for Spiderman 4 and 5.
While the line-up is still on the trail, speculations have it that Dr. Curt Connors which was played by Dylan Baker will turn into “The Lizard” as it did in the comic series. It has also been rumored around that the astronaut John Jameson (ex-fiancée of Mary Jane) will undergo a transformation into Man-Wolf.
Surely a lot of Spiderman fans have been waiting for this. Only they have to wait a little more. Suspense is building up as web of speculations and rumors grow and grow for the sequel of Spiderman 4 and 5.

So I named her "Paige"

Each and every child is unique from the time they were conceived to the time they were born. I thought that the third one would be as simple as spelling out the abc's but it's like i am starting all over again. I guess its getting harder and harder every time. Though the fulfillment and joy of motherhood and of having such cute and adorable kids are priceless. I can say that they are the best thing that ever happened to me. I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.

I know it would again take me those sleepless nights and would deprive me of so many things but I know that God have given me such wonderful blessings. I may have started off at the wrong foot and I hope I'll be able to straighten the crooked path I took. Things do happen for a reason and I've always lived by that credo and there's just no other explanation to the things that happen to us. Reasons that might not be so seemingly obvious to me right now but I know that there will come a time that it will just surface in front of me.

"Carpe diem" as Horace said for I know not what the future has in store for me but this I know....I must be grateful for today and for the yesterdays that have been given to me. I will enjoy every second that I am with them because they grow up so fast that I might not be able to give all the best for them. We will have our own tete-a-tete time and will cherish each moment for the rest of our lives. Some things that money can't buy.

Today another part of me has been born out of this world...another chapter of my life has been opened....and so another page of my story will be written...and to this, I named her "Paige".

A lingerie for the woman in you

Boudiche-image---la-perla-_/>

As a woman, most of us wear different types of hats to suit different types of role that we portray in our day-to-day lives. Many of us would spend most of our waking hours serving others. Oftentimes, our needs would be at the bottom of our mental checklist of priorities.

Indeed it’s true that it takes a toll on us to take care of our own needs once in a while because it does not only affect ourselves but also the ones we love. When our own proverbial well is empty, we have nothing left to give to others. That's why it's important that we make a commitment to indulging ourselves at least once a week.

There are many ways to coddle ourselves and one of them is to carve out time to take a bubble bath. Others would go on a nature walk and spend quiet time journaling. One shouldn’t feel guilty if they expand self-care to buying themselves a special gift from time to time. I know women will have many items on their wish list and here’s one that you can check out : indulging yourself with Lingerie.

In the process of serving others, our womanliness lags behind. Our femininity takes a back seat to the roles we play in our lives. One way to help us reconnect with our feminine nature is to give ourselves beautiful Lingerie.

Most people would associate Lingerie to being sexual. Yes Lingerie may make you feel sexy and good about your body but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is intended to be sexual. Wearing a beautiful bra and panty set can make you feel terrific whether or not you have a partner. It gives you a sense of femininity which also builds up your self-confidence.

Personally, I discover something in me with the Lingerie I put on. I know that when I get pregnant there is no denying the fact that I will get bigger and heavier. Yet that didn’t stop me from making myself feel good. Having a supply of Designer Lingerie, designer underwear, bra, knicker, french knicker doesn't mean you have to parade around in them. Instead, wear them under a dress or blouse and feel the silky smoothness against your skin. Instead of wriggling into some rough, irritating underwear everyday, switch to something that will make your skin feel smooth and something that are guaranteed to make you feel womanly.

Wearing Lingerie will make you feel good inside and out. Your face will radiate with the comfort and satisfaction it brings. Remember that you don't have to have a model's body in order to enjoy Lingerie. Today there are Designer Lingerie, bustiers, teddies, stockings, knicker, french knicker, bra and panty sets made for plus-size women. There's no room in life for body shame, so enjoy your curves! It doesn’t matter what type of size and shape you have. No one can stop you from indulging on Lingerie because every woman is entitled to connecting with their feminine nature.

Your handy iPod applications

My husband and I are both music lovers. Since my hubby is more techie than I am, he is my one source of knowledge when it comes to tomorrow’s gadgets. I must say that I got a little confused with so many different companies launching and re-launching varities of music player in the market Scrutinizing the specs and its functionalities, Apple iPod is still the best and most popular available to date. Though the old classic iPod may not look as lovely as compared to the new designs and models which is being released every now and then.
I have to be contented with what I have because it would cost me too much if I keep up with the technologies that are wired for tomorrow. I just want to share with other people on how they can best enhance and maximize the use of their old iPods. Below is a list of 3 applications for iPod that will make this little goody more productive and functional.
iGadget
With this type of application, you can copy music off an iPod and turn it into an information repository. Although this comes with a fee, it will help you realize the full potential of your iPod like transferring all kinds of data to your iPod. This includes driving directions, contacts, appointments, email, notes, tasks, news, weather, horoscopes, showtimes, gas prices and more.

iDump
You can connect your iPod and iDump will allow you to transfer your songs off your iPod to a PC. It does come wrapped in installer but you can simply drop the .exe in the root directory on your iPod and run it from there.
You’ll have access to all your songs; can transfer the songs you want to put in a certain directory; can manage your songs by renaming it.
Canto Pod
There are times when you want to sing along but cannot understand the words because of the accent or because of the mumblings. This utility helps you search for thousands of song lyrics online and download them on the iPod. Another good thing about this is that this comes for free!

It's raining laptop for 30 days!

Yesterday, a good friend of mine was telling a funny story about her encounter with a mouseless laptop. She can make it look like having less knowledge of some things are that cute when she tells it with her funny lines with matching actions.

At this age of technology, she still doesn’t know how to use a touchpad. I am proud to say that my eldest daughter who is just in pre-school knows already how to use a laptop even without a mouse. Mind you guys, she can even surf the internet on her own. She knows what to click and what to type in the browser.

With this development, my husband and I thought of buying an extra laptop for the house which will be used by the kids. But why buy a laptop when I can get it for free? While I was doing my usual browsing of sponsored opportunities for Socialspark and Payperpost, I saw this great deal about Charter Laptop-a-Day Giveaway.

Patch it up

Now that my eldest daughter is already 6 years old, we have a lot of things that we can do together. Things that you usually enjoy doing together really make the mother-daughter bonding stronger and better. Sometimes I play with them with their toys but I usually get bored and I am not that imaginative. With my present preggy condition, I have limitations on what I can do. That makes it harder for me to play with my kids. Sometimes I feel guilty that I can’t seem to balance the attention that I give to my 2 kids. I get more worried when I think about dividing my time when Paige comes out of this world.

I guess there will always be things that one can do to make up for a quality time. Learning and fun can be best achieved when the mother and child both like what they are doing. It is just a matter of discovering what it is. For us, we found something that really makes it worth the while. Patch it up is how we do it. At first I thought it was a game board but when I looked closely at the picture I realized that it contains art materials like beads, threads, glitters that are used for patching up torn clothes or if you want to revive your old bags. You can be creative and imaginative in designing, sewing and patching your tops, jeans or other accessories. In the process of helping out my child, I also discover some things about her that one can’t usually find out in normal conversations. This is a good bonding exercise that you can try out without sweating it out.

Shrimply irresistible

I just love shrimps and I have always been drooling for tempura especially Ebi tempura. I guess it is obvious that I would be voting for the Japanese Tempura Shrimp recipe of Mark Holley from Texas. How can it not be my favorite? From the recipe itself I can almost visualize and taste the shrimp tempura together with the wasabi potato cake, seaweed salad, tobiko and the spicy chili sauce. It is just shrimply irresistible! The recipe of Mark is easy to follow and it can be done for all occasions. The recipe is just a click away, just type in www.GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com and you are sure to cook off those shrimps or prawns.

To make it more palatable to the kids, one can make a sweet sauce to fit the taste buds of your young ones. Also make sure that you will be cooking and serving only domestic seafood which is not only fresh and tasty. One can be sure that it is the finest and being managed in a sustainable manner. It may not be common knowledge but the benefits of buying domestic seafood denotes quality, healthfulness and safety supply. The benefits of eating domestic seafood are clear: it's a high-quality protein source, low in saturated fat and rich in polyunsaturated fats, particularly omega-3 fatty acids. There are possible additional benefits of domestic seafood linked to brain and visual system development in infants, and reduced risk for certain forms of heart disease

From the website I’ve mentioned earlier, I am sure that you will find a great deal of seafood recipe that you can try and cook off. Why? There is an ongoing contest that will showcase 14 chefs from 14 different states. The Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board (LSPMB) and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association) kicks off the Fifth Annual Great American Seafood cook off on Aug 2-3 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. Only one chef and one state will walk away with the title of King of American Seafood.

Baby found safe in her newfound family

I thought it is only here in our country where young hopeless and helpless mothers abandon or throws their newborn baby just like a doll. I have read somewhere that there's also a same incident reported in the city of La Plata, Argentine. A farmer found an abandoned naked baby girl last Thursday. To his astonishment, the baby was being kept warm among his dog China's puppies. Fabio Anze, the farmer, notified the police and the baby was rushed to the hospital.

Upon examining the baby, the Director of the Melchor Romero hospital - Mr. Egidio Melia, released to the press that the baby was just a few hours old when she was found, and was in good health although she had some bruises. It seemed like the puppies understood the baby's situation and that the poor creature need warmth since nighttime temperatures are chilly although not freezing in the Southern Hemisphere winter in the rural area around La Plata, 40 miles south of Buenos Aires.

They've located the 14-year old mother who abandoned the baby but it was not clear to the police whether the mother left her baby in the dog's pen or whether the dog found the baby outdoors and carried it in to join her puppies.

Bills IQ - the end your financial nightmare

For_opportunities
One real nightmare that we have to face in these trying and difficult times is to be in the mud of debts. I have learned from my parent’s mistakes and I have made it a point to stay away from being financially drowned by debts. God is good to me because he has taken care of me and my family from such nightmare.

I must say that I am lucky because I know some friends who have been encountering financial plights right now. This has been a very exigent time that the world is going through and you must be able to keep up in order to survive the test.

I have a friend who has been in such a situation for such a long time now where her debts are way above her head. She owes money from almost all of the people she knows and she has even maximized all her credit cards. We wanted to help her but we don’t know how she got into that mess. She has not been vocal about the things that are going on with her. Prayer alone would not suffice so we thought of talking to her so we can understand the root cause of all her financial misery. We found out that she has been borrowing money to pay her other debts. She is joggling funds and this vicious cycle must stop or she’ll never be able to get out of it.

As friends, we are helping her in our own way. We may not support her through money but we can guide her through BillsIQ. In BillsIQ, there is a quiz online that one can take for free. The quiz helps you understand your own state of financial health in terms of Debt consolidation, Debt relief and, Debt help. It also helps you find out where your weaknesses and strengths are in managing your finances. A great deal about it is that there are tips and suggestions on how you can better improve yourself in dealing with your current situation. Prayer alone would not suffice in uplifting yourself from the pitfall of financial anguish. One has to have a will to be able to make it through.

You call them ... MARSkey

It is a good thing we have museums that preserves the world’s historic, valuable, unique and odd items. Now the mini-museum of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation holds the most famous, intriguing and hot item that can be displayed. It boasts of possessing what they claim to be from the other world creature such as the monkey from Mars.

Fascinating items that are currently being displayed in the forensic science of the bureau's state crime lab lobby includes an illegal moonshine still and the microscopic fibers that solved the 1981-82 Atlanta child murders. The preserved remains of the MARSkey are tucked away in a glass cylinder.

It was the height of UFO hysteria that was sweeping the nation when three prankster performed a UFO hoax. The two young barbers and a butcher took a dead monkey, lopped off its tail and applied a liberal dose of hair remover and some green coloring to the carcass which they thought would passed off as an alien.

To complete their alien hoax, they left the primate on an isolated road north of Atlanta in the pre-dawn hours of July 8, 1953. They burned a circle into the pavement with a blowtorch before a police officer came around the curve in his patrol car.

The three men recounted their fib story to the policeman saying that they came upon a red, saucer-shaped object in the road that night. They also added that there were several 2-foot-tall creatures that were scurrying about. And to make their story more authentic, they said that the highway was left scorched because they hit one with their pickup before the creatures jumped back in the saucer and blasted skyward.

Brown took down the strange account and filed a report at police headquarters before going home. It sure did spread like wildfire because as soon as Brown’s shift ended, his phone started ringing off the hook with everybody else trying to find out about it.

The creature was examined that evening by Dr. Herman D. Jones (the founder and director of the GBI lab) and Dr. Marion Hines (an anatomy professor at Emory University). They proclaimed it to be a hoax. Until now, it is not clear where the men got the monkey. However, they eventually admitted to the prank and were charged with a $40 fine for obstructing a highway.

Get it goin' with Cisco

It is a rapidly changing world. For such a long time, my husband has been eared towards the purchasing career path. His first job was in a semi-conductor company. When he jumped from one company to another, his skills and experience were shaped in Purchasing. He was looking for something with excitement and mind-enrich career. He thought he needed a change in environment so he went from one company to another. Then he realized that it wasn’t the company that has been stagnating him but it was his job as a purchaser. He took a bi leap of faith when he applied and was accepted in the IT department.

Hi background and basic knowledge in IT has earned his way through the challenges. His first few months kept him agile and excited with his work. But then again his eagerness to learn be updated in the IT world has made him scout for a training that would be equip him with the knowledge that he needs to o up the ladder.

The Hercules

Ever since we were boyfriend-girlfriend, I know that he is someone who will forever be young at heart. He is a certified music lover, passionate with video games, updated with different consoles, and a techie-lover!

I am lucky because he can play and be in tune with my daughter's hobbies and playful moods. I know that I will never understand his enthusiasts with the games that he have been playing (i.e. magic cards, network games, dungeon and dragon board games, catapult board games and there are more in the list).

Now I am saving up for something that he is eyeing for - the Hercules. No it's not the Roman God. Neither it is the Disney character or figurine. Hercules is a unique DJ Console Mk2. It is a revolutionary complete portable DJ controller, Mixer and USB audio interface for desktop/laptop PCs.

In his younger years, he used to be a DJ and he had made some money out of it by playing on parties and bars. Growing competition made him set aside his hobby. As the years passed by so with his equipment that he used to play with. Inspired by my brother who plays in hotels and who enjoys a lot with his JLB mixer, he drools out for this Hercules thing.

I got curious and bean researching what he constantly talks about. Internet articles states that the Hercules DJ Console Mk2 is perfect for digital DJs and has been labeled the next generation award winning DJ Console.

What are its features? It is compact and portable, a dual-deck controller with integrated audio for mixing MP3s, WAVs, WMA etc on a PC. A major new feature of the DJ Console Mk2 is the ability to connect up to two external analogue devices such as vinyl turntables, CD players or MP3 players - Multiplying the possibilities for DJs to master the art of MP3 mixing while also integrating the analogue equipment used by DJs.

Another good deal about it is that it is ideal to use with all of the latest music and audio applications including: Image Line FL Studio (Fruityloops), Cakewalk SONAR, Cakewalk Pro Audio, Guitar Tracks Pro, Home Studio, Steinberg Cubase VST, Cubase SX, Cubase SL, Cubase SE, Nuendo, Wavelab, Adobe Audition, Syntrillium Cool Edit Pro, Cool Edit Pro 2, Sonic Foundry Sound Forge, Acid, Samplitude, Propellerheads Reason, Ableton Live, and other music software.

Let us make a walk to remember

When I was young, I remember my granny who was diagnosed to have an Alzheimer’s disease. At first, I didn’t understand what it was but I knew then that something was wrong. She was my favorite granny and it took me a while to grasp the concept of what was happening to her and no one can even explain in great detail what the brain disorder does to a person. Of course now we are educated and well-informed that Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and fatal, the most common form of dementia and, has no current cure.
It is a good thing that there are some organizations that aim to raise the awareness of people and also help fight against Alzheimer. Now, the Alzheimer's Memory Walk association is creating the nation's largest event which aims to raise awareness and funds that will be used for Alzheimer care, support and research.
The event also calls on volunteers of all ages to become advocates of the fight against Alzheimer's. So what is a typical Alzheimer's Memory Walk? It is a 2-3 mile walk that will be carried out on a weekend morning in the fall in more than 600 communities. Want to help out? Then stand and let us walk with a purpose….let us make a walk to remember.

The real war outside Playstation goes to Congo, Africa

What has the world been up to? War in video games has already surfaced outside the microchips and memory box of Playstation 2. War has been brought to the Democratic Republic of Congo and it's all because of Coltan.

Coltan is a rare unrefined metallic ore which is necessary in the manufacturing of Sony's Playstation 2 game console and other electronic devices including cell phones and computers. Its name is derived from the contraction of columbium-tantalite, the scientific nomenclature.

It has ignited and heated up a brutal conflict in Africa specifically in Congo. Why Congo? The eastern part of the country holds 80 percent of the world’s reserves of Coltan. It is a heat-resistant mineral ore widely used in cellular phones, laptop computers and video games.

There are reports that prisoners-of-war and even children are forced to work in the mines caused by the increasing demand for Coltan. It has even incited Rwandan military groups and western mining companies to ransack hundreds of millions of dollars worth of the rare metal.

Oona King, an ex-British Parliament Member, said that kids in Europe and America kill imaginary aliens in their living rooms while kids in Congo were being sent down mines to die.

Having sold through over 140 million units, Playstation 2 indeed is the current best-selling video game console of all-time. But is it worth the buy when you know that there are kids in other part of the world that suffers while you enjoy?

A dark night for the Dark Knight

Batman has made every viewer’s night leaving the movie house satisfied after watching him fight the villains. Conversely, the man behind the mask and suit was making other headlines. Actor Christian Bale was reportedly arrested for the alleged assault of his mother and sister.

This time there is no Commissioner Gordon to back him up. He had spent four hours talking with authorities denying the allegations made against him. After being questioned by the London police and finding no evidence that they can charge with, the 34-year-old actor was released on bail.

It had seem like a doomsday in his career when British media described that Bale's mother and sister told police he assaulted them. The incident purportedly took place at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night which was a day before the European premiere of "The Dark Knight.".

Simon Smith, Bale’s lawyer based in a London firm Schillings, said in his statement that the actor came to the police station voluntarily. He had been cooperative all throughout and had his account in full of the events in question.

Days after "The Dark Knight" the reports spread just like fire. When the London police spokesman was asked Tuesday whether Bale had been arrested, he did not refer to him by name but just referred to Bale as the “34-year-old man”. It is a policy that they do not do not name suspects who have not been formally charged.

Digg!

Let War Games begin!

A blast from the past. Let me take you to my favorite era and let us talk about the movies of the 1980s. There are soooo many great movies that you can look for in any video rental store. Who would ever forget Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or Back to the future? How about the heartwarming story of E.T. and the exciting love story of Pretty in Pink?

I can go on and on with my list and I am certain that you all remember them and miss those classic flick movies. My personal pick : Some kind of wonderful. It starred Mary Stuart Masterson as Watts and Eric Stoltz as Keith. Aren't their names as cute as the characters they play? This classic teen comedy romance is all about two friends discovering their feelings for each other which goes beyond friendship. I just find the movie and the characters irresistible.

Incidentally, the 1983 sci-fi thriller movie entitled WarGames is celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary event which will be played today in select theaters nationwide. The story is about David finding himself caught between the real world and gamelandia. The young man is a hacker and he discovered a back door into a military central computer which started it all.

Don’t miss out on this one because the films will only roll in the big screen for only a night. Special features like never-before-seen interviews with film creators, cast and crew will be seen. Viewers will also get the chance to have a sneak peak of the making of the sequel which is entitled “WarGames : The Dead Code”.

Some kind of wonderful

I fell in love with the story. Keith and Watts are both lovely names and how I wish I can use them for my baby. The story tells us something about the life of being a teenager. I guess I could associate myself with Watts' character. I was a little boyish back then but not really tomboyish. I wore shorts instead of skirt, played basketball and volleyball. I was into Karate although most of my friends are girls. I guess I like to show people how tough I am and that no one can belittle us. It has become a realization to me that when you are in your teens, the physical looks matter more than the inside. Another thing that I've come to grasp is the concept of appreciating the one you love in the brink of losing them. It is only when our innermost feelings come into fire when the situation is already hurting you. When you feel that short stabbing pain, pinch in the heart and a fiery pang of jealousy it will surely hit you hard and hopefully wake you up. Whenever I watch the movie, I always feel like I am watching it for the first time. I can watch it again and again but I don't wanna feel the real deal again.

My Victory hair story

Being sexy is feeling confident about your self therefore being sexy is just a state of mind. Having the right attitude gets you to achieve Victory hair. No matter what shape you are in or what skin color you possess, it really doesn’t matter. As long as you know how to carry yourself especially in a conversation, you can win the guy you are eyeing for. It may sound alien to most of the readers but Victory hair is an everyday word for almost everyone. It simply means having a smart and fun guy meet a sassy and brave chic. Their personalities jive and they get along very well. That is one Victory hair.

Flirting is part of hooking someone for a constant date and eventually having a long-time partner. I remember my long-time first love which was way back in high school. I believe the actions that I made were enough to get his attention thus achieve my own sweet Victory Hair. Flirting within the normal ways and means of it was beyond me. At an early age, I took it upon myself to outshone other girls by topping his Economics class. I also joined an extra-curricular activity which he headed just to make sure that I would spend more time with him. I also tried to make friends with the registrar personnel so I can get hold of his CV. I studied everything about him, his preferences his dreams and other details that are beyond the teacher-student knowledge. On special occasions, I bought him a gift with all the allowances I have saved. I left him a rose on his table to remind him of me. We didn't make it together but I was certain that he will always remember me for the rest of his life. My own Victory hair!

How about you? What is your Victory hair story? If you don’t have one, then you can practice your unhidden skills by playing the Extreme Style by VO5 Ultimate Flirting Championship game.

Old friends get together on special occasions. It was Zaza's wedding. Got the chance to see and catch up with Happy. More so, I was brought back to memory lane....
On our way to the Cathedral, we passed by Metropolitan theater...high school days...specifically the West Side Story days. The place is the product of our after-school, and weekend practices of acting, singing and dancing. It was one of the coolest and memorable days ...too memorable.
Next pit stop - Intramuros...Tent City...Youth day...YFC days...now a golf course. And then there was Fort Santiago...SFC...where we had a bonding trip. Getting lost in the midst of the old houses, kalesa, pebble roads and the katipuneros look-alike...Archbishop's place...I remember when I was preparing for my wedding. Went there to authenticate my baptismal records. I also remembered the night when we had our post-thesis party. Happy, Zaza, Tina and Mike (my thesis mates) making it with the the study of "Philippines 2010 vs. Malaysia's 2020 vision"or something like that.
Then saw the Pier...Ormoc days. That's where it all started...but that's another story.
The ceremony was a-ok. Even when we're out in college, we still manage to have some bloopers. Oh, when you are with Happy, you'll never run out of funny stuffs. The reception was @ Manila Hotel. The theme was unique and so is the way they have prepared everything. Served on the table is choco pretzels and raisinets while the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra Band plays jazz music to keep the guests company. Food is superb. I am not really a big fan of hotel foods or fine dining but this one I gotta say my taste buds was really satisfied. At first, I thought it was goin' to end up like the same old fancy tasteless food because of the marinated salmon with vegetable terrine. Then this was followed by the creamy zucchini and spinach with smoked shrimp and red pepper foam ...it's terrific! Love it. After which, we were served with Thousand Leaves Pastry...thought it was salad but it was more like chicken ala king only better. And then the main course....Australian Beef tenderloin in merlot garlic sauce served with dauphine potato and young veggies. Rating : Yummylicious. I'd say overall it was superb! Just saying that I had a great afternoon that day.

Want to find out if you are financially fit?
