Remembering the big day

Long weekend. What I thought would be just another free day for me to unwind and use up my free time for writing articles had turned out to be one of the best and remarkable weekend for me.

When I was first asked about the trip, I was surprised and it seemed like a joke. So I just shrugged it off and tried to change the subject. Then again the subject didn't go away so I knew then it was a serious offer. I was thrilled and I instantly said yes without even asking permission. In my mind, opportunities like this comes rare so I immediately accepted it. My brain was already scamming for reasons to this getaway.

The day came and I just enjoyed every second of it. First stop was at a gas station to have our breakfast. It was a sunny day and the streak of sunlight that glares on me gave me more energy to go through the day.

Appetizer came in next at an organic coffee shop. Weird, yes it is but I didn't mind having a mixed-up of meals because I cannot argue with whatever happiness that is bursting inside of me.

We spent a short hiking to a picnic trail to shake off the food tripping that we are about to get into. Zipline, cable car, cottages, kites, lake, horses and kangaroo? Seems a bit odd and yes we did find it funny after that exhausting and sweating hike. Cooled off for a while under one of those shady cottages and used the time to talk about anything and everything under the sun.

Subsequently, it was time to devour the very tasty Bulalo, munch the crunchy Tawilis, and sip the very refreshing Buko juice listed in the menu. Aside from the fact that the food was very scrumptous, we had a great view that entices everyone to eat a lot.

Time flies so fast and I was trying to slow it down a little bit and I got what I wished for but sort of in a different manner. While on the road to our next destination, the clouds got dimmer and rains just suddenly poured hard slowing us down. When we found the Palace, the rain gave way and stopped for a while. All the way to the top, I was a little bit disheartened at the view that greeted us but nevertheless I didn't dwell on it too much because what is important to me at that very moment is the reason why we were there.

Fog came and the cold air brought out the human jackets. It is always a breathtaking view when you are at the topmost part where you can see almost everything.

Dropped by Mahogany to catch some fresh fruits and Tawilis. The night was catching up on us. The sun was beginning to dawn and I was starting to sink with a heavy heart. It was decided upon to had the last stop somewhere near the exit but we were slowed down almost to a halt on the way down that narrow mini zigzag road.

On the way back, we took the same road although we were like on a different time zone. It was horrendous traffic for someone who is eagerly trying to go back home but for us it was the most sensible, worthwhile, and sizzling traffic ever.

The conversations had a little bit of getting-to-know-you-more and later on there were some thought-provoking words turned to a very warm and cozy drive. Another Scorching escapade!

I could forever talk on in great details of everything that transpired on that surreal day but I'd rather keep the details with me. Have no photographs but my mind, heart and soul will always hold a photographic memory of that entire day.

There was one conversation where I teasingly retorted "it will be my loss". It may be a real joke to him and I was just trying to laugh it off to mask what was the real intent behind those words. I am not ashamed to admit but it is true that when all else comes to fail with My Heartthrob, it will be my big loss. A very big loss. For a second, I intently gaze at the silhouette of his face and prayed that I will never ever feel that way.

One

I draw my inspiration from many things...actually small things. I get so pumped up and truly moved with such sweet gestures. I can't take off the big smile in my face. With those small acts, I feel cared for and loved. Cheesy maybe but it melts my heart. I feel so lucky... i feel blissful. Things are getting a little brighter. The dark clouds are slowly moving away letting the rays of the sunshine in. Though I peek a little of it, I gleam with hope that one day, someday we will be ONE.

Salehoo your one-stop shop directory

When I was doing the Salehoo articles for an Odesk buyer, halfway through it I got interested. The concept of selling online never crossed my mind. The thing is that when you are writing about things, you get sometimes drawn to it especially if all you write about is the other side of the coin. Probably many of you are wondering what is Salehoo. Well if you have not heard of it yet, let me introduce Salehoo to you.

What is Salehoo?

Salehoo is an online provider of directory listing suppliers that includes wholesaler, drop shipper, liquidator, and manufacturer. From over five thousands of suppliers that are listed with them, you are secured that you are dealing with nothing but the best and legitimate suppliers. They have a 3-tier review system that pre-screens and filters the candidates. Over time, they have build a name and reputation for themselves.

Why Salehoo?

There are lot of online directory providers that you can find in the internet but most of them are scams. I have been into drop shipping fora and find out that there are just a few that you can trust and one of them is Salehoo.

It has a good customer service which is actually one of its key point why it is getting a lot of clients. They take care of the concerns of their clients which others cannot provide.

They also educate and involve their customers in their community programs and newsletters. They share and impart the knowledge which makes it more interesting to people.

They also have a forum where they can raise their questions, ask for tips or advice from the e-Bay Powerseller experts who have turned to Salehoo for their drop shipping and wholesale needs.

They also have a one-time lifetime membership fee. Others would have hidden cost or charges once you get interested and the next thing you know is that they have taken out slowly your money in your bank account.

For all those who are planning to set-up their online business or who are already in the business, we would highly recommend Salehoo for your wholesale and drop shipping needs.

HB

Today, I thank your parents for bringing out a wonderful person like you. I can find no words to tell them how grateful I am.

Today, I thank GOD for giving me the chance to know you and for giving me those borrowed times. GOD knows how much happiness he gave me for sharing you to me.

Today, I thank you for spending those special days with me. For giving me one of the priceless joys that I can ever have.

Today, let me greet you in a non-traditional way...

Everyone has some kind of place that makes them feel transported to a magical realm. Just like Peter Pan taking Wendy to neverland. Or maybe Alice dreaming of wonderland. It could be one of the Princess from Disney waiting for Prince Charming to take her to a happy-ever-after land.

Some people find their solace and haven in castles with their noble history and crumbling towers. For others it’s abandoned factories, ivy choked, a sense of foreboding around every corner.

For me, the only place that gets me to that blissful land is with YOU. To borrow one of your fave Rico line : "I hate to break it to you but it's just the other way around. You can thank your stars all you want but I'll always be the lucky one.2378

The U2 360 Tour

U2 rocks! I don't see any reason why people would not like them. If they can give me a reason for lambasting them, hell, I would give them hundred reasons why they should be ashamed of themselves.

Facebook have let me in to some pictures of my friends attending their concerts in Europe. If they would go here and perform a concert, I would definitely buy a ticket no matter how much it would cost me. I would have wanted to disapparate to Dublin to hear them sing, see my Bono back to back with "The Script". Some wishful thinking!

Originally they have called themselves "Feedback" and later on changed their name to "Hype". And as they were stepping up the ladder of success, U2 emerged as the victorious and sweetest name for them.

They are one of the few bands who have achieved success across three decades on both the artistic and business sides of the music industry. They have broken free form the traditional confinements of a rock band and rock music so to speak.

They have shattered the glass that have been dictating rock musicians on what they could and they couldn't do by combining an original sound with honest lyrics and a challenging social message. That has been U2s trademark. They have left a print in the hearts of their fans and have earned the respect of their peers and critics all around the world.

Today, they are successfully performing in 14 cities across Europe which includes Barcelona, Milan, Paris, Nice, Berlin, Amsterdam, Dublin, Gothenburg, Gelsenkirchen, Chorzow, Zagreb, London, Sheffield and Glasgow, Cardiff. Their European tour will be followed by a North America tour (Chicago, Dallas, Tampa, NY, Atlanta, Raleigh, Houston, Norman Phoenix, Las Vegas, LA, Houston and Boston) and 2 cities in Canada (Toronto and Vancouver). The U2 360 Tour site has a complete listing, schedule, packages, and ticket availability.

Guys wake up, if you still haven't found what you are looking for then I think you should hear me say - U2 rocks and will forever rock!!!

A new vesion of me

Spontaneity has been one of my strong suits. I rarely make plans. I have my goals but a roadmap is never a thing for me. In a snap of a finger, I can easily grab the keys, turn on the switch, push the knob, pump up the volume and dash away to whereever the road will hit dead-end. Oh no, it's not just for fun and definitely for no reason at all. It is true for something worth the ticket.

You can only smile at fate when it takes a hand. Those thoughts that keep running in circles are far more dangerous than what a pen could do. At times when emotions take hold of me, I would fold and completely shut my brain out from processing anything before my tongue could deliver the message. It's like a bomb that ticks off when a trigger is set off.

Today, I just realized that tomorrow is not just a new day. It is miles away. I am drowned by the silence of waiting for the sun as I listen to my daughter mimicking every move as the movie repeatedly plays for the nth time. It is amazing how she can find something so fascinating at every scene as if it was her first time to see the movie. I just stare and smile...completely out of this world. Tomorrow, I said, needs a new version of me. Yes I know it seems contradicting when I said spontaneity is one of my strong suits. I don't know how and I don't know why but it's that spontaneous moment that sickens me...

I can only sigh and with each sigh I hope I can breathe out the stale air that seems to build up the heavy load. I must run, grab the keys, turn on the switch, push the knob, pump up the volume and dash away to the greater heights of the new version of me. So dance without me...dance without me.

DFA authentication (Red ribbon) of public and personal documents

My sister is getting married in church on December. Since she and her husband are both working abroad, I do some of the paperworks for her. One of the required documents that they have to submit on church is the NSO autheticated birth certificate. However, she found out that the name in the birth certificate is misspelled. So what we did was to produce an Affidavit of Discrepancy and then had it notarized. But this doesn't end there. I just found out that correcting this simple erroneous thing is very tedious.

Is it too much to ask for these government workers to strive for efficiency? I bet they don't know that their errors costs a lot of wasted money, time and effort on the part of the victim. Anyway, my friend's sister who I think is a lawyer told her that she needs her birth certificate to be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). This authetication is referred to as "red ribbon". This is the first time I heard it so I did a little research. I went to the site of DFA and looked for the citizen services. This is what I found out :

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) performs its authentication function/services in the context of 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. Given the existence of a multi-state system, aforesaid Convention stipulates that, among other things, the various kind of documents sourced from particular sovereign states (e.g. public documents, private documents, and commercial documents) shall have validity or operative effect in another sovereign state's legal jurisdiction after subjected to an agreed upon authentication procedure.

The DFA through the Authentication Division-Office of Consular Affairs may authenticate an act, deed documents etc. executed or sourced within Philippine legal jurisdiction by way of certifying said act...... When these acts, deeds or documents have been duly authenticated by the Department, the receiving embassies or consulates or any other foreign legal entities are, in effect assured that aforesaid documents are in order or have been legalized in accordance with proper procedure.

So what is the purpose of this procedure? The only reason that makes sense is that DFA authenticates the public/official documents to prove that your documents are legal which is ONLY REQUIRED in some foreign countries.

The DFA authentication attest to the genuineness of the signature appearing on the attached certification for the purpose of identifying a specific document and giving credence to the official acts of the notary public or certifying officer thereon for use, if and when required, as instrument of evidence in foreign countries. As such, the DFA certification/authentication does not, per se, authenticate the validity/efficacy/enforceability of the basic document itself...

Further to this, DFA states that :

Foreign Embassies, Consulates and foreign legal entities may or may not require the authentication of documents sourced from the Philippines for use within their respective jurisdictions. However, under rules of reciprocity in international relations, sovereign states normally require authentication of foreign documents to be used.

The next question will be : How much will it cost you to have your document authenticated by DFA? If you go directly to DFA it will only cost you Php 150.00 and you can get it in less than 4 days. However, please be advised that the counter for the red-ribbon documents are from 8am to 12nn only. If you want to avoid the crowd and you have plenty of time and money to spend then you can course it through an agency. It will cost you around Php 750.00 and you can get your authenticated document in less than 10 days.

Here are some important announcements that DFA issued to the public:

1. All applications should be made in person by the applicant except under certain circumstances (e.g. documents filed by his/her immediate kin);
2. Application fee must be paid within 24 otherwise it shall be disposed;
3. Unclaimed documents after three months from the date of release will be disposed.

Here is a list of public/Official documents and the corresponding authenticating government agencies. Note that the list of said agencies are in consecutive order meaning you should follow the sequence of the agencies listed that you have to go to.

Long live the "King of Pop"

The world was saddened by the news that Michael Jackson, the “King of Pop” is no more. MJ, at age 50, suffered a cardiac arrest and died Thursday. The King of Pop had once shattered and stunned his audience with his moonwalk, feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves in the music world. His high-pitched singing punctuated with squeals and titters had been his trademark. Who can ever forget his single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses? Indeed he was the most exciting performer of his generation!

Reports had it that Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center. He was stricken ill at his rented home in Holmby Hills. For nearly three-quarters of an hour, the paramedics tried to resuscitate him. Then he was rushed to the hospital where doctors continued to work on him.

At the time of his death, he was preparing for a comeback bid trying to rise up to the challenge of vanquishing his nightmare years of sexual social and financial calamity. The scheduled unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena was yet to be his greatest comeback which was first set for July 13.

There is still no final report about the cause of his death as his body is still to undergo an autopsy procedure. His death is currently being investigated by the police and the autopsy procedure is said to be just a standard procedure for high-profile cases. The family however believes that he suffered cardiac arrest in his home.

Michael Joseph Jackson was born Aug. 29, 1958 in Gary. In the late 1960s, MJ (who was just 4 years old) had been known with the Jackson 5's hits such as "ABC" and "I'll be there". The public had known him as the the precocious, spinning lead singer of the group together with his four older brothers : Marlon, Jermaine, Jackie and Tito.

His talent, charisma together with his early success of bubblegum soul made a break for him. His music is phenomenal. He went solo creating an innovative, explosive, unstoppable music. In 1982, his album "Thriller" alone mixed the dark, serpentine bass and drums and synthesizer approach of "Billie Jean," the grinding Eddie Van Halen solo on "Beat It," and the hiccups and falsettos on "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'.". He had made and sold roughly 50 million copies worldwide making it the best-selling album of all time.

The peak of his career may have started in 1983. At this time, Motown celebrated its 25th anniversary. This was all-star televised concert and Jackson showcased off his famous backward gliding moonwalk dance while joining his brothers for a medley of old hits. The crowd became excited with the part when he had the “Billie Jean” run-through with matching pointing, crouching, high-kicking, splay-footed and crotch-grabbing moves. He surely made his audience astonished giving him a roaring standing ovation. His moves and his level of performance had surely cemented his place in pop culture.

He was recognized to be one of the biggest pop sensations of all time like Elvis Presley and the Beatles. But as the years went by, he became an increasingly freakish figure, a laughing-stock with his surgically alternate appearance as a result of his sustained burnt during a production of the 1984 Pepsi commercial.

Following his career, he had managed to record strong follow-up albums such as “Bad” which was released in 1987 and "Dangerous" in 1991. His career began to wane in 1993 after his name was dragged in child molestation. He denied all of these allegations and tabloids have reported that criminal charges were not filed because they have made a $20 million settlement with the boy's family.

The incident took over a change in the public’s eye. His image started to come to the public as a middle-aged man-child weirdly out of touch with grown-up life. Some people have insulted him with his changing appearance. Others were bewildered when he wore a germ mask while traveling, adopted and named his chimpanzee “Bubbles” and saying that it was one of his closest companions. His career and image have been destroyed even more when people started criticizing and judging him when he surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch. From the “King of Pop” he was downgraded to “Wacko Jacko”. A Hollywood publicist in the name of Michael Levine commented that “His internal essence was at war with the norms of the world. It's as if he was trying to defy gravity,"

His image and career even went dimmer when he caused a public stir in 2002. The swarm of fans in Berlin is shocked to have seen from below MJ playfully dangled his infant son, Prince Michael II, over the hotel balcony.

There were many reports that he had molested children in Neverland but he was cleared of all the charges. Despite of it all, the case followed years of rumors of molesting young boys. This event took a huge toll and dampened the most on his career and image bringing him into serious financial trouble.

There is no doubt though that the legendary icon has been truly a great influence to many people. Many detractors would not agree with me when I say that even with the negative publicities that he was getting, he has at least left a legacy that will always be remembered not only in the music industry but also with the people he had helped one way or another.

This is the reason why his best friend, Elizabeth Taylor, gave him the title "King of Pop". He was believed to be the most popular music's premier all-around performer. He made a breakthrough by crashing the race barrier and uniting black and white music on MTV. He dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

Among the many good deeds that he had accomplished is the setting up of the World Foundation after he co-wrote the song "Heal the World". He had also donated $500,000.00 for the benefit of the Negro society. He ensured that the proceeds of the hit single "Man in the Mirror" be donated in a foundation. During the time of former President Bush, he pleaded the government to make some donations to the HIV victims. There were varieties of different cause that he had been a part of and had advocated for that is why he had been loved by so many.

In fact, as word of his death spread like virus, MTV cancelled its regular program and played videos from Jackson's heyday. Most radio stations performed a marathon of his hits. Fans gathered outside the hospital to pray for his soul. In New York's Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died. His star power is unmatched. As Billboard magazine editorial director Bill Werde puts it, "The world just lost the biggest pop star in history, no matter how you cut it,"

With his death, I am sure that the music industry will pay a lot of tribute to the Pop icon. I guess one way to relive his greatness is to continue the good deeds he has done. Long live the King of Pop!

Angkor Wat

The biggest and the grandest of all temples. A city in its own right. Angkor Wat is the pride of Cambodia. It is indeed the first temple that every person must go to. For sure, you wouldn't want to miss this one. This is one of the reason why people want to go to Cambodia. To witness the world's largest and most sublime religious monument.

I was in awe with it's architectural masterpiece displaying some 600m of narrative bas relief and nearly 2,000 Apsaras.

It was between 1113 and 1150 century during the reign of Suryavarman II that this temple was built. It was designed both as a capital and a state temple which was dedicated to Vishnu.

The total area of this temple measures about 200 hectares. There are two entrances or what they term "causeways" - the West "W" or East "E" sides. But because of its unusual orientation the "W" gopura is by far the largest of the four.

The temple is a combination of two major Khmer architectural features : a pyramid and concentric galleries. It can be simply described or be seen as a pyramid of three levels. Each level is endowed with its own gallery showcasing four gopuram and corner towers.

The scale and structure of Angkor Wat gives full credit to the following Khmer's religious symbolism:

The moat that surrounds the temple - embodies the mythical oceans surrounding the earth;

The succession of concentric galleries - epitomizes the mountain ranges that surround Mount Meru which is the home of the gods;

The towers - stand for the mountain's peaks;

The ascent to the central shrine - exemplifies climbing a real mountain

Angkor Wat Cookies and more...

We were a bit tired from the travel but that didn't stop us from checking out Siem Reap. I knew it was a bit crap because the red flag was up for me and blood was just gushing out. I really felt so tired, uneasy and uncomfortable but since I was on vacation it did not deter me from having fun! I knew then that I had to psyche myself up so I would not feel crappy. I knew I should maximize my stay and enjoy every second of it. So we just dumped our luggages, my friend checked her FB and e-mail accounts then we refreshed ourselves and off we go again.

We asked our driver-friend Rithy to take us to a place where we could shop or buy some souvenir items. He took us to one of the high-end stores like their Chanel store. Oops this was not what we had in mind but we went down anyway and checked it out. After going around, we went out and this time we specified to Rithy that we want him to bring us to a place or a store where we could buy like bags or shirts. Obviously, there was still a mis-communication but I think this was how we learned how to communicate effectively. Well, he took us to a store of bags....authentic, local handbags, belts and other accessories made out of crocodile skin which meant that it is expensive. After two stops of failed shopping, this time we thought of asking him to bring us to a market.

It was around 4:30pm and he told us that it was not yet open but we still insisted because Lonely Planet told us so that it opens at 4pm. He was polite enough to bring us there against his will. At last, the place was right but the timing was wrong! They call the place "Noon-Night Market". We should have listened to the local. We thought that he was just making an alibi. Most of the stalls were not yet opened so we just have to do with limited choices. We bought some shirts which costs us $3 each. Here, you really have to exert your bargaining skills. They charge you twice as much as it really cost. So you have to be firm and yet gentle when negotiating. Use you bargaining charm and be as simple as you can especially when communicating with them. "Same-same but different". I was really laughing at first but that's how they talk to you. It may simply mean that the items are of the same design but of different color or same style but of different size. Also, when you want to look for another size you will be better understood if you say "s", "m", "l" or "xl". You see they have a harder time understanding you when you say you want a "small" or "medium" size. So how do you get there? From National Route No. 6 Road take the Sivatha Blvd. then turn right to CAB Bank. The Noon Night Market is near the Angkor Night Market and Brickhouse Bar. It is also located in what they called the "Old Market Area".

After our first taste of shopping, we thought we'd give their malls a try. We went to Lucky Mall which is right along Sivatha Blvd. and just beside the Radius International Hotel. Just like any other mall it has a supermarket, a department store, a chocolate shop and a toy store. It wasn't really that big and you don't get to see some extraordinary items which you can bring home.

Then we saw this Madamsachiko store

which is along the "road to the temples of Angkor". They are right beside Cafe Puka Puka. They sell really yummy and unique cookies. They have cookies designed after the great Angkor Wat Temple. They also have cookies with spices such as the black pepper, palm sugar cookies, lotus tea cookies and coffee cookies. I like the black pepper cookies. It's great for take-home gift which just costs $5 per bottle or box. The refreshing lotus tea that was served to us was also inviting so I bought one since my husband loves to drink tea. I thought he would like it a lot. There are also banana chips and peanuts with pepper. It's a little spicy and yummy.

We stopped by at the National Museum. We had our pictures taken outside the building. I just regret not going inside because I saw in one blog that there are plenty of things that we can see. It stores artifacts and some historical items that can better explain the culture of Cambodia as a nation. National Museum is along the "road to the temples of Angkor".

Thinking that we've had enough for such a short time. We went back to the guesthouse. Ritty only charged us $5 for the whole ride. We just took a bath and had our dinner at the garden. I just remembered then that it was the first meal for the day - Dinner. We ordered Amok Chicken (Curry) and Spicy Beef Soup. After a satisfying home-made meal, we went upstairs already so we can prepare for the real temple adventure!

The shadow of your smile

Cried like a child...so helpless. She dried the tears and held him in her chest. Her arms tightly embraced him as if saying "hush, little baby don't cry". Her heart pricks in pain whenever he sees him down...she never wants to see him down. She wanted to take his grie...his pain and make it her own. When he cries, she cries deep down inside, and when he's hurt, she's hurt. Together they will try to hold back the floods of tears and despair and make it through the potholed streets of life.

It was one of those nights where she would remember it the most or it was one of the best. She just couldn't find the right words to describe it. They both just wanted to remain in their world. The world where they become entwine with so much passion.

She knows that life in the future is uncertain and that there only rough roads and tough journeys to make. So when the time comes that he can no longer hold on or when the fire that burns become an ember, she will never hold him back. Her love for him will always set him free. She just wants for him to remember that she will always remember that laugh, that kiss, that love. And when the dawn is breaking, the shadow of his smile will light her world. The shadow of his smile will turn back the clock and the days will be repeatedly rewinded. That way the shadow of his smile she will always see.

She never loved anyone else in this world like the love that she have for him. She will remain through to this until her last breath...until the right time comes...She is sure she is no one special. She is just someone with common thoughts and ordinary dreams. There are no monuments dedicated to her and her name will soon be forgotten. But she loved him with all her heart and soul, and to her, that has always been enough.

Right! It hid sweet whine

I think it was Da Vinci Code. When I was reading it, I got into codes specifically the anagram. In order to hide whatever sweet nothings or things that I want only a specific person to know, I use anagrams.

This time, it's a puzzle within an anagram. Although when the anagram is solved the puzzle would be much easier to look at.

This is my wish...my dream....

Your online beauty magazine - Scrubsmag

I didn't understand my mother then why she needs to put all those creams and beautification products. I was so naive and I guess it was innate in me that I was just a simple girl. Didn't lie make-ups not that I have something against it but I guess it is just not me. However, you indeed reach a certain age when you totally become conscious about yourself especially how you are pyhsically in tune with the rest of the world.

Need some fashion and beauty help?Scrubsma is an online beauty magazine is one good resource that you can ask help from. You will read a lot of tips and advises on various health and beauty matters.

One article I read is about waking up younger? The article discussed things that you should do and habits that you must avoid or stop to relax you or chill you from the usual stressful routine that you have. It is a good thing that they provide you with information like this because it helps a lot of people especially of this generation where everything seem to be a lot tedious and hence a lot stressful. Waking up younger doesn't liteally translate to you waking up one day an you find yourself physically younger. It doesn't work that way. At least in this age and time, someone has to still invent a machine that woul perform it. What it simply means is that you wake up and feel younger. There are lots of ways that you can eventually relate to that but for some who have faith in medicine, they can try the product that is being offered by different pharmaceutical companies. Just make sure that it is working out for you and that there are no harmful side effects.

Arriving at Siem Reap, Cambodia

Did I already mention that there is no direct flight from Manila to Siem Reap? Well since I mentioned it (again), we booked a flight to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), Vietnam.

I mentioned previously that I took the econo-light promo of Philippine Airlines (PAL). I was able to bought it at a low price but of course with less benefits. For one, I don't get to have a meal. Also, I can only check-in 15k of my baggage. Another thing is that I can't transfer seats even if there were dozens of available vacant seats. A disgruntled passenger? Nah, it's just a forewarn to all those who are planning to take said promo.

Anyway, my friend was able to get us a ticket via Vietnam Airlines for our flight from Saigon to Siem Reap. It costs us $290.00 for the round trip fare. The travel took us only an hour. Visa is not required for ASEAN countries. So it wouldn't be really hard to visit Cambodia.

I guess all airports have the same process when it comes to departure/arrivals of foreigners or be it locals. You present your disembarkation card together with your passport (which you fill up during your flight) to the immigration counter. Then the immigration officers usually asks you a thing or two otherwise they just process and stamp your passport and then you're in.

I knew then that we have a pick-up service which was confirmed thru e-mail. By the time we went outside the arrival area, we were met by the driver who was holding a placard with my friend's name on it and it read "Ms. Tete Cruz, Philippines". Actually her name is Teta. Our driver's name is Rithy and his sporty vehicle...Tuktuk. I thought we were going to be picked-up by a car or a van. I was laughing to myself when I saw our service. I didn't know then that this was the mode of transport in Cambodia. How ignorant of me! I guess I didn't have the luxury then of reading about the culture of Cambodia which is pretty sad because I could have appreciated things more had I known a little about this beautiful country.

Surprisingly, Rithy knows how to speak english but he is not that fluent so it did take a while for us to grasp some of the words that he was saying. Rithy is a very pleasant person, he always have a smile for everyone.

He brought us to the Bou Savvy Guesthouse where my friend have spotted a promo. Her friend recommended it to her. We paid only $45 for a 4-night stay. The guesthouse was just a 30-minute drive from the airport.

Rithy asked us what our plans were. He laid out his terms and the service that he can offer to us. What he explained were the different sights to see and the tour packages that can be availed. As the discussion went along, we also clarified things because it was advised that we should be clear in all negotiations so we wouldn't be caught off-guard with hidden charges or other charges that may not be understood.

In my next blog, I will discuss the different temples that we've visited and the costs that we've spent so more or less readers will have an idea on how much they should allocate if they would travel to Cambodia.

Read my mind

I know I promised to do a travelblog but I think I need to insert a blog that is of utmost importance to me. I never meant to make it seem like I am taking things for granted. I am truly sorry for making things seem to look like so indifferent.

I would not make any excuses but I just want to clear the air out and put back that boyish smile right where it belong because he deserves it. All I wanted was to pour out every inch of love and passion that I can always give.

Yes, I am a Gemini by zodiac sign and I have somehow believed partly when it describes me as someone who takes up new activities enthusiastically but lacks application. I am the one who would constantly need new interests, flitting from project to project as apparently purposelessly as a butterfly dancing from flower to flower.

I am not sure if it perfectly suits me when they say that "Geminis have a keen, intuitive, sometimes brilliant intelligence..." but one thing I am sure of is that I love cerebral challenges. However, concentration, though intense for a while, does not last.

My mental agility and energy gives me a voracious appetite for knowledge. Without sounding so conceited, I fairly believe that this is true for me ... our intellect is strongly analytical and sometimes gives us so great an ability to see both sides of a question that we vacillate and find it hard to make decisions.

I am fickle when it comes to love? They say that our basic inconsistency of emotional nature is a side to Geminians which can become deeply involved emotionally, and another, hostile to sentimentality, which stands back from a romantic situation, laughing at it and the protagonists in it, including myself while analyzing it intellectually.

They say that I take nothing seriously. One might even argue that inspite of my temporary depth of feeling, for the intensity of involvement lasts only while it is new. That I am superficial, light-hearted, cool, flirtatious and unimaginative in the understanding of the pain that I give others. I completely disagree with this.

Before, it may be true that I like the excitement of the chase, but once I have caught the prey, I lose interest and look around for the next creature to pursue but now he has all changed everything.

I may be talking of myself too much but that's because I want him to see me as to whom I really am. I am not that pretentious or hideous. I don't put my best foot forward just to impress someone. I need to be seen as to what I can give when I catch my prey...and that is all of me.

I never intend to hurt someone. I am just being me. I keep silent when I feel the need to. So I guess I just need someone to respect my silence. It is not that I am hiding something but I just want some moments alone to myself. It might be too hard to understand the complexity of it but it would really pay off sometimes to just trust me especially when I say with my whole heart out "I want to be with you forever...you are my destiny...Jai ho" I mean what I say that is why I only say it once.

Earlier today I was in a trance. Just being with you...spending those precious times with you...sharing our plans and dreams. I thought I didn't need to tell you how much I appreciated every second of that Bora days. I completely forgot that we are exactly of the opposite type. I do cherish everything. It is just I can't find the words to describe the ecstatic happiness that I felt those bonding times. If it's not that important to me, why else would I make it hard for me to bring along our precious little one when I can just tag along myself and enjoy the sun without getting burned? I need not explain more I guess. Just always remember that everything is locked within my heart and that memories are (so you termed) "doubly encrypted".

Like the song playing from the movie Superman : "If you need to belong, here I am, read my mind".

The Amazing Race

For the longest time, I have never been out of the country. Since my last trip to US, so many things have happened. I am the only one left here and my family have been living and working abroad for quite sometime. I had a hard time adjusting since I lived with them for half of my life.

Anyway, this blog is a document of our adventures and visit in Cambodia and Vietnam. My friend and I called it our own version of "Amazing Race". Hopefully, this will somehow help other travelers especially for the first-timers in said countries. I would like to share as much as my memory can extract. You see I have sort of a memory gap and selective amnesia - a dangerous combination eh. LOL.

It all started when I visited my friend because of some business transaction. Of course, it wasn't just pure business transactions. We were talking about things, friends and other people. Then somewhere out of the blue, she asked me if I'd like to travel with her to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. Without any hesitations, I said yes! I wasn't thinking at all. I wasn't thinking about it's nitty-gritties, the dough and other things. I guess this time I was just thinking about myself. I thought I'd spend something for me. I thought I needed time for me. I needed some air to breathe in, some place where I can think things without any interruption or distractions. I just loved the idea so I instantaneously said yes. More than ever, I was too serious about it.

I thought it wouldn't materialized. It took us a year to finally make it through and now that the long wait is over, I was just so excited that I didn't know where to begin. Good thing my friend has lots of connections and is a frequent traveler so she is more or less an expert in the field.

Now, let me get down straight to the details...to the tips and advises....to the real thing...

First of all, traveling (especially out of your country) requires that you have a passport that is still valid for 6 months. Otherwise, you would have to go to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to renew your passport. Then depending on your destiny, you might want to check if you should apply for a visa. Take for instance, countries in the ASEAN region : People who have a Philippine-issued passport need not apply for a visa going to Cambodia or Vietnam.

The next thing that we arranged is our flight itinerary. Since there are no direct flights from Manila to Siem Reap, we have to book a flight going to Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon then another flight going to Siem Reap, Cambodia. For others who have a different itinerary or multiple itinerary, you might want to check other airlines that services Siem Reap International Airport. In booking the flight, I patiently and diligently researched for the airline that would have a low-cost and yet reputable & excellent service and facility airline.

I was able to book and buy (that's how they call it now) my e-ticket from PAL. I chose the econo-fare promo which cost me a total of $132 (inclusive of all taxes and surcharges). The only frill is that you will be seated at the rear part of the plane which was okay with me plus you don't get to have their meal on-board. Again, I was fine with it since the flight only took 2-hours from Manila to Saigon. They also serve unlimited peanuts and beverage (water, juice or coffee). Hey, just so you know you can ask for an unlimited refill of your orange juice.

You will also have to pay Php1,620.00 (travel tax) plus Php750.00 (terminal fee). Of course, I was too preoccupied with what I would see and the places that we would visit so I thought the flight from Manila to Ho Chi Minh was generally okay.

Please wait for the continuation of my travel blog as it will have to wait for another day. Next part would discuss more on our travel proper to Cambodia from the first day up to our last stay.

Daredevil experience with Yamaha Rhino ATV

Hitting the road in the late 1980's is a new style of off-road utility vehicle. It was designed to operate off-road. They have inside a rollover protective structure or ROPS which is equipped with seatbelts. This gives space for a seating arrangement which allowed operator and passenger to sit side-by-side. Another feature of this type of vehicle is that it contained a cargo bed which increased its utility usage.

With the revolutionary and updating of technologies and vehicles, Yamaha diversified its product. In 2004, they entered the market introducing their own version of ATV called Yamaha Rhino. This vehicle appears have a merge of design between the Rhino and the Yamaha Grizzly 660 ATV. Noting that the components and characteristics of this type of Rhino vehicle are similar.

In their tests, it was found to have achieve speeds over 40 mph with much higher acceleration rates than other utility vehicles. I guess this speed has given every driver a sense of excitement and adventure, unleashing that daredevil side of them.

Soon after their entry into the market, there have been some flooding of reports regarding the Yamaha Rhino Rollover. As written in the news there were lateral upsets with injuries that began surfacing with the Yamaha Rhino 660 and Yamaha Rhino 450 side-by-side machines. It was then discovered that these Rhino vehicles were rolling over to the side. These rollovers takes place when speed steps up from low to moderate which leads to maneuvers on essentially flat level ground.

There were reported cases that either the operator or passenger received a serious leg or arm injury when their limb came out of the ROPS. I can only imagine and that really makes me feel weak! What's worst is that it was pinned between the vehicle and ground. It is indeed a daredevil experience that I sure wouldn't miss!

Disco Night @ American Idol

Every week I look forward to watching American Idol. This weeks theme is disco. First to go on stage was Lil Rounds singing "I'm Every Woman" by Whitney Houston. Again, judges were kind of disappointed with her. I guess what's lacking is the originality and every week they wanted her to show her singing prowess but the songs that she chooses doesn't give her that opportunity. Now, I am not sure that she is listening to what the judges have been commenting on her.

Kris Allen was superb singing on another version of "She Works Hard for the Money" by Donna Summer. He displayed another artistic arrangement taking risks week after week. It's a good thing though that it pays off most of the time.

I am not sure that Danny Gokey played it that well with none other than "September" by EWF. I have to agree with the judges that it wasn't that special.

Allison Iraheta, the "underdog" as quoted by Simon, gave another powerful rock rendition of "Hot stuff" by Donna Summer. At age 16, she can turn up the heat and make your head bang with her powerful voice. With no doubt, she is a talented singer but with few fans voting for her, I am not sure she can make it all the way.

As expected, Adam Lambert threw off the rest with another unforgettable, unbeatable, and a totally different version of "If I Can't Have You" (from Saturday Night Fever).
Actually, at first when he was singing it, I was kinda getting the tune but somehow I can't seem to decipher what song it is (and I mean it in a good way). It was indeed a great arrangement.

I was really shocked when the judges saved Matt Giraud when he should have been kicked out early in the game. He lamely sang "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees. I guess they have just prolonged his agony. I bet that he would be eliminated this week. By the looks of it, I think he had already a feeling that he performed really bad.

Lastly, Anoop Desai tried a ballad version of "Dim All the Lights." Simon had to disagree and honetly blurted out that it was mediocre and that it was Anoop's worst performance. I think Anoop will join Matt in waving their goodbyes as the curtain fall for them this week.

The Easter Bunny and the Easter Eggs

Lenten season is not complete without Easter egg hunting. This event is marked with the bunny and the multi-colored eggs. Most people however don’t know the origin of this occasion. So are you ready for some trivia trivia?

Read on and get up to the speed of knowing Easter bunny and its eggs.

Let us start off with the name Easter. It came from the word Eostre which is a name of an ancient Anglo-Saxon goddess, originally of the dawn. In pagan times an annual spring festival was held in her honor.

Now the Bunny. Do you know that in earlier times it was Easter Hare and not Easter Bunny? But since rabbits are said to be a symbol of fruitfulness and fertility the interchange happened. Christians changed the symbol from Easter Hare to Easter Bunny since rabbits are more common everywhere.

Happy Easter everyone!

Looking for your kind of wood furniture?

When we finally had a chance to renovate and redecorate our own rooms, I was so excited. I get to choose the designs and style that I want. Especially when it comes to furniture, I wanted something unique for our room.

I've seen dozens and dozens of designs and colors of bed and I had a few picks but it's either it was just ok or it wouldn't fit my budget. In short, I was not that satisfied with what I've seen until I saw this Rustic Log Bed
that is totally unique. I really fell in love with it the first time I saw it. I must have one. It's a good thing that I saw it from this site http://www.scenicfurniture.com. The site offers various pieces of wood furniture that are unique, awesome and lovely.

Second to my list is the coffee table furniture
that is perfect for every living room. I am sure that you will love their selections because they are not the usual or typical wood furniture that you will see in the malls or furniture shops.

Chicken Pastel

Since my mom left for Qatar, I was left all alone to decide the menus. I didn't realize how difficult it was until I did it. I really appreciate all the hardwork that my mom provides for us since we were little and even until now when we get the chance to be together.

Alright, enough of the drama! What I would like to share is how to make a Chicken Pastel. I know that you can find a lot of recipes in the net or on different books but this one I made with a twist.

First you marinate 1 kilo of chicken breast with salt, pepper and MSG. In a pan, heat butter and oil. Pan fry the marinated chicken. Set it aside. In the same pan, saute 1 tbsp. chopped onion until translucent. Then add 1 tbsp. chopped garlic. Add 1 can of condensed soup of mushroom and 1/2 cup of water. Stir and let it simmer then add the 1/2 cup grated cheese. Mix it. Then add the sliced mushrooms, green peas and chicken. Lastly, add the quail eggs for toppings. Voila, there you have it, your yummy and creamy chicken pastel!

One again

I just want to see him laugh...laugh his heart out. I just want to see him smile...a smile that I can see even through his eyes. I just want to make him happy.

I thought I can give all that by staying away. I never said I'm wrong but I know I can feel it somehow. Words need not be spoken just to prove things.

When I thought I can no longer pretend that I am that brave and bold enough to stand up and never look back, I have sacrificed the only thing that hasn't been stripped off me ....my pride. I wish he knows how much I have given up just to make him feel sooooo special. No words can even describe the happiness that I feel whenever I hear his childish laugh...something that is so rare.

Yesterday was so much heavy with pain and tears. Now, I am overwhelmed and overflowing with love because I know I am one with him...one with the best feelings that any woman could ever have....one again with my best.

Tracks of my tears

I thought the Motown episode of American Idol Season 8's best performance was that of Anoop Desai. I wasn't really paying attention to what they were singing until I saw the re-run yesterday. I admit I have to make a change of heart....Adam Lambert's version of the "Tracks of my tears" was just lovely. I guess one reason is that I can relate...and whenever I feel so emotional...i sing my feelings. Although not all the lyrics are appropriate for me, I thought parts of it are me :

Although I might be laughing loud and hearty
Deep inside I'm blue
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears..

Outside I'm masquerading
Inside my hope is fading
Just a clown oh yeah
....My smile is my make up
I wear since my break up with you..
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears

I have thought of it for the longest time. I knew all along that it wouldn't be easy but doing it for real makes me want to die. My heart was crashing.

While we were waiting, there was a lovely silence. There are times when silence has the loudest voice. I can remember Leigh, Monica, Luther, George, John, Ringo and Paul serenading us...keeping us company while we savor each moment...while waiting for that sensational moment. Music and silence..a true perfect strong combination. Music fills the silence and silence is full of music.

We ended up in silence. Sometimes silence is also a time to let go and allow people to hurt themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when its all over. It was time to go....and it was the longest drive back to where I parked my car. It has been a dreadful silence. Silence that has the most powerful scream. Yes, saying nothing sometimes says the most.

Lying is done with words and also silence. Whenever I am not ready to face the battle or to answer the truth or just simply afraid that it's not the answer that he wants to hear...i remain silent. Most of the time, I do it because I always want to please the person not because I just want to lie. So, in not knowing what he wants, I shut up my mouth. There was one question that I have kept silent all throughout and I know I have to keep lying even to myself. I'd be a fool and a hypocrite if I say no but in reality...it has been and always will be....in the Track of tears.

Bittersweet

I was excited as soon as I opened it. I immediately picked up my ally and enjoyed the rest of my play. As I was rummaging through the pages, I saw Pido. He got my attention with his bittersweet words. It was as if he was talking to me...sharing the same sentiments...
It is then in my nature to listen whenever something takes hold of my interest. His bittersweet is my bittersweet...
At this point in time, there is nothing that comes close to bittersweet....just like the taste of coffee jelly...just like you to me...

Making sense out of love

Don't you think I want to believe in the ever after too? How great would it be just to die now and then step into someone else's life? Yes I want to believe in that except I can't anymore...because it all doesn't make sense.

When our story was just beginning and you started to take my hand and make me feel loved, I took that leap of faith with you. For most part, I didn't regret making that chance, stumbling on the risks and bearing fruits of those intimate, passionate and unforgettable unions.

I still remember those learnings in my philosophy class that I always carry with me. Everything I have ever learned taught me that that kind of emotion that dwells upon me needed to be managed, even feared. Emotions which kinda makes a man risk everything over and over again for no sense of reason. A kind that makes sensible reasons and even death itself mean nothing. To which that emotion is what we labeled love.

Let the rain pour in

I was driving half asleep with my eyes wide open but my mind sleeping. My body was lazily maneuvering the wheels. My brain was freezing dead as my thoughts wander far away. While I was about to turn round the corner, I heard a loud honking sound. Good for me, my other senses were still working. My foot instinctively slammed on the brake while I tried to keep myself intact from that whooshing instance, I almost shouted out loud "Where the hell did it come from?" Obviously, I was caught off guard with the presence of another vehicle zooming right in front of my eyes. Whew, what a way to wake every inch of my body!

Although I was shaken by that incident, I thought I would be awake the whole day but I was wrong. My head ached and it seemed like I needed to drink coffee the whole day just to tick off that sleepy mood. I was spinning off the whole time and I couldn't much care less where I'm heading too.

At last the day ended and I will have that time to unwind. Dropped by to the usual hang-out and while I was waiting for their short-classic-hot-choco to be called out, I tried to sit back and browse some reading stuffs. While sitting in the sofa gave me a little comfort, I find it hard to concentrate not to veer away from our topic. Even while we were reminiscing and laughing our hearts out to those good old days, I was trying to masked the ache. Sadness flies away on the wings of time but how much fast are those wings?

I am figuratively dying inside. I continued browsing to hide the emptiness that my face might show. I have to look at something to stop a tear that has been dying to roll down my face.

Summer has just begun but I have a feeling that rain will come pouring down on me. And I have never felt any good when it rains much more when it pours. One step at a time and it has been a torture. I am starting to realize that it's never going to be easy. I have stopped asking the whys because I can never find the right answers. I have started to ignore because I know I have to start at least somewhere. I don't wonder anymore if I am or I was part of the plans. I stopped believing and I just got tired of waiting. I feel so eccentric at times....tormented and torn apart. Any chance that I can just wander off?

Darn, I lost track of time...it's almost cracking dawn...I guess I need to write this one...

Everytime I close my eyes I feel you near me
then the wind would blow and give me the chill
I would feel your arms wrapping around me
giving warmth to each and every inch of my body.

Thank you...thank you for giving me the greatest joy and gift
For a moment I thought you were bringing me home
But our boats parted and took a different drift
living our lives in an all makeshift.

Now it's time for me to open my eyes
to see and accept what is truly for me
I'll kiss the rain and leave a goodbye
Forget me then smile...than remember me and cry.

I guess even now, I will never understand how hard it is to lose what you never have and that you know you can never have.

.....Signing off.............

A losing battle

Being a wide reader gives you a lot of insights...a lot of ideas...thoughts to ponder on and sometimes you gain wisdom you can claim your own. And that one thing that serves true to me right now : Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worst kind of suffering.

Slowly, the clear sky gets misty, my surroundings get a little foggy. I tried to hold on to the end of the rope but bit by bit it's slipping away from my hands. I stand still and those tears that fall are tainted colorlessly. I am giving up on this fight...on a fight which can never be won. I raise the white flag, bow my head and concede to the losing battle.

The best credit card for you

Every now and then you get to receive a phone call from a credit card company offering you one. Or maybe you receive dozens of offers thru mail. The question now here is how and which one do you choose? Just because you need one and the first one that offers you will be the best bet. Sometimes we choose by the one with the most aesthetic appeal. It just doesn't go that way.

So here are some simple tips in guiding you to choosing the best credit card. Before you choose one, try answering a few key questions. Questions like how do you plan to use your credit card? How much is the annual interest rate? How long is the grace period? What are the other fees? How much is the finance charge? What is the credit limit? What are the rewards? For example there are some cards that have features like cash back credit cards which gives you a percentage back on each of the qualified purchases you make on the card or in other words they are what you call rebates.

Another way to find out which credit card that will suit your needs is to compare and review the different types of credit cards. DealsForCreditCards.com is a site that provides consumers with the latest updates and information on the different credit cards. You might want to look specifically at this site : http://www.dealsforcreditcards.com/article/searching_for_the_best_credit_card.html so you will have a better insight on what you should look out for.

The ring

She said "what happened between us was all lies."

It was just an experiment and with some scientific process, some of his memories were shared with her. In one crucial moment, she knew she had to decide. A friend helped her in these trying moments. She said "my mother always told me that I stick my nose to where it doesn't belong that's why I always get in trouble."

Aptly speaking, one should always mind their own business. Too much information gets you into trouble and sometimes in the process it gets you hurt. Knowing too much about something or someone is sometimes painful. She ached in knowing that everything that happened between them was just a lie. He was using it to get her trust and eventually take what he wanted and left her all alone...wondering what she could have done to deserve it.

Then the friend asked her, "when you were together was there ever a time that you looked into his eyes and find truth in what he is saying?" She contemplates and tried excruciatingly to remember what it is that she sees when he looks in his eyes. Finally she decided.

In an attempt to confirm her thoughts, she asked an old friend to do the precarious experiment. Her old friend told her that even if she do it again, it would only last for minutes. And so she dive into the pool knowing that the risk she would take might end up with nothing.

As soon as she closed her eyes, she saw herself standing at the edge of the platform with a lagoon in front of her. A lovely sight with trees surrounding the water. Leaves were turning orange signaling the end of spring. Silence has broken with the familiar voice. She let him do the talking and she listened very carefully with his words. Finally he said, "I have wanted to tell you everything but I guess I ran out of time". He hold her hand and took something from his pocket. He uttered, "I know we can't be together". So he took out the ring from the box and wore it in her fingers. "This is the only truth that I can give to you now." And just like a mist in the air, he suddenly disappeared and left her with a whisper....She opened her eyes filled with tears....and that alone is enough.
